How We Interview
Kohler Co. utilizes a behavioral interviewing format.
Behavioral interviewing is based on the foundation that the best predictor of your future behavior is your past behavior in similar situations. Behavioral interviews generally last 60 to 90 minutes.
Hiring managers prepare for behavioral interviews by identifying the necessary areas of competency required for the job. They then ask questions designed to elicit specific examples of how you've used these skills.
In preparing for a behavioral interview, research the position tasks required and write down specific, job-related examples of past experiences.
Be prepared to communicate your strengths and developmental needs and to provide examples of each.
The following are some examples of behavioral-based interview questions:
- Tell me about a time when you were resistant to change even though you knew that it was necessary. What did you do? What was the outcome?
- Tell me about a time you openly accepted accountability regarding a mistake that was made. How do you drive this same level of accountability in your organization?
- Describe a time when you had to go more than halfway to communicate with a “problem person.”
- Give me an example of a time in which you had to be persuasive in getting your idea across, even when the odds were against you. What did you do? What was the outcome?
- Give me an example of how you identify your own personal developmental areas. Be specific.
