About Kohler Co.

Kohler and the Arts

Art In Industry
At Kohler Co., the importance of art is evident as soon as you step through the doors of the corporate headquarters, where a series of murals by Arthur Covey adorns the walls. Works by participants in Kohler’s Arts/Industry program are displayed throughout the company’s buildings and factory, and around the Village of Kohler.

Kohler has long encouraged art in industry by opening the doors of its pottery and iron foundry to internationally recognized artists. In a program administered by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, artists work side by side with Kohler associates during long-term residencies. They utilize industrial technology on projects of their own choosing.

Functional Art
The value of the Arts/Industry program to Kohler can be assessed from both a personal and business standpoint. Meeting with the artists inspires associates in their everyday work. Over the years, ideas generated by the artists have been translated into innovative new products.

Kohler's support of the arts stems, in part, from the value of art in industry. This philosophy is underscored by the craftsmanship and artistic innovation that characterize the company's plumbing products as "functional art" used by people in their homes every day.
